DUBAI, UAE – The Ford Focus is Small Car of the Year 2012 according to Wheels, the English-language weekly motoring magazine in the United Arab Emirates.
Features writer Dejan Jovanovic wrote: “In such a tough class as the C-segment, the Ford Focus faces competition like the newly-launched Opel Astra, Mk6 Volkswagen Golf (until the new one gets here), five-door Honda Civic and Peugeot 308, but before we get to tags such as OPC, GTI, Type R and GTI, the Ford dealership is the first one you should visit first. And the last.”
The award is particularly noteworthy because Wheels boasts the highest circulation and readership of any automotive publication in the country.
“We are thrilled with this recognition the Focus has received from Wheels,” said Larry Prein, managing director of Ford Middle East. “The introduction of the ST in early 2013 will definitely strengthen Focus’ growing popularity in the small and sports segments.”
The Focus has been growing in popularity in the region, with sales in the Middle East tripling from 2011 to 2012. It’s available in three models in the Middle East, the sporty five-door hatchback, sleek four-door sedan and the five-door wagon.
