AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - The Focus has been named Business Car of the Year 2013 in the Netherlands. The award, one of the most prestigious in the Dutch automotive industry, is presented annually by business magazine Automobiel Management.
Now in its 26th year, the award is judged by a jury comprising executives from large leasing companies, fleet owners and the car media.
To win the award, the Focus beat numerous rival models, including the BMW 3-series, Peugeot 508, Opel Corsa, Volkswagen Polo, Fiat 500 (2nd) and Citroën DS3 (3rd). The jury praised the Ford model for its impressive driving dynamics, innovative technology, styling and overall quality.
Gerard Bolder, managing director of Ford Netherlands, was pleased, but not surprised with the new award. "The Focus is literally and figuratively a world car, with the best combination of everything you are looking for in a car. And with me the customers agree, because the Focus is not for nothing the best-selling car in the world since the beginning of 2012."
The title Business Car of the Year 2013 is the latest in a line of many international awards for the current Focus. Earlier this year the 1.6-litre EcoBoost Focus was crowned Towing Car of the Year 2012 in the Netherlands. And in 2007 the previous generation Focus also won Business Car of the Year.
