DEARBORN – The popularity of small cars continues to grow in Israel, and there’s none more popular than the Ford Focus.
It was the most popular vehicle in the country in 2012, says Ford Israel Country Manager Dan Bielik. “It’s not a stretch to characterize 2012 as ‘the year of Ford’ in Israel. Not only was Focus the best-selling vehicle in the country, but overall Ford sales were up 83 percent over 2011, by far the greatest increase of any automaker in the country.”
Bielik says crossover vehicles and SUVs are also increasing in popularity. The Explorer and Edge were Ford’s best-selling vehicles in that segment.
Ford’s stellar performance – which helped it secure the number-two spot among automakers in Israel, behind only Hyundai – came amidst a down year for the industry as a whole, which saw sales fall more than 9 percent from 2011.
Bielik is anticipating a strong start to 2013, as customers in Israel often wait for the new year to purchase vehicles.
