YANGON, Myanmar – Since the announcement of Ford representation in Myanmar in April, dealership technicians, sales and service employees have begun receiving training resources and developing their technical expertise.
RMA Group and Capital Automotive are supporting this initiative, which has seen the first 10 technician apprentices complete a nearly month-long Ford Technician immersion program at RMA Academy’s state-of-the-art training facility in Laem Chabang, Thailand.
The academy’s curriculum covered a wide range of services and skills, from how to carry out routine servicing to repair requirements commonly encountered on the job. The apprentices were also trained in electronics and measurements that are required of automotive technicians.
“The program was based on the Ford Masters Programme, which builds a solid foundation for providing customers with the best quality service and repairs,” said Neil Mcguigan, training manager for the RMA Academy. “The training has been highly effective, and we are impressed with the apprentices’ progress. They’re off to a great start in their careers, with the ultimate goal of achieving the highly recognised status of Ford Master Technician.”
The apprentices will be the first technicians employed at Capital Automotive’s new Ford dealership in Yangon, scheduled to open in September.
“Ford is committed to taking a leadership role in building Myanmar’s automotive industry. This world-class, first-of-its-kind technician training is just one example of our long-term commitment,” said David Westerman, regional manager, Asia Pacific, Ford Export & Growth Operations. “Mentored by our experts at Ford and RMA, these employees represent a fantastic beginning for Ford in Myanmar.”
It was the first time any of the apprentices had the opportunity to travel outside of Myanmar.
“It has been life-changing and makes me feel like I am valued. I look forward to an exciting future working and representing the Ford brand, and I hope to one day become a qualified Ford Master Technician,” said Aung Soe Tun, one of the apprentices.
The first Ford dealership in the commercial center of Yangon has been completed, designed and built to Ford’s global standards. The showroom is now open . The dealership will be fully operational within the next few weeks and accommodate a full lineup of global Ford vehicles.
Ford is the first global brand in Myanmar to offer complete automotive solutions, including a world-class showroom, sales and aftersales services through certified service technicians, as well as full warranties on all new Ford vehicles.
