DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

AUCKLAND, New Zealand – Ford will set a new standard for fuel-efficient vehicles in New Zealand when it launches the Ford Fiesta ECOnetic later this year.

With a combined fuel consumption rate of just 3.7 litres per 100 kilometres
¹, the fuel efficiency of Fiesta ECOnetic sets a new benchmark and surpasses all other vehicles currently on sale in New Zealand, including petrol/electric hybrid models.

The Ford Fiesta ECOnetic also produces fewer CO2 emissions than any other conventional, internal combustion engine vehicle, with an official CO2 emission rating of 98 grams per kilometre.

"Following a host of awards and accolades from around the world, we're very excited to be bringing the Fiesta ECOnetic to New Zealand," said Ford New Zealand Managing Director, Trevor Auger. "It is a car that will change the way New Zealanders think about Ford. It not only sets a new benchmark in fuel efficiency but also provides a much-needed, more affordable 'green' option for drivers."

"The Fiesta ECOnetic offers the great, award-winning balance of style, features and performance of the Fiesta, while also achieving remarkable fuel efficiency through ECOnetic innovations and technology. It's great to drive, considers the environment and provides relief for today's high fuel costs," Auger added.

Fiesta ECOnetic will officially go on sale in the third quarter of 2010. While the New Zealand retail price is still to be determined, it will offer drivers one of the most affordable and fuel-efficient vehicle packages ever presented in New Zealand.

Fiesta ECOnetic looks and functions just like a conventional Fiesta, using conventional diesel powertrain technology, yet it delivers industry-leading fuel efficiency, as well as best-in-class CO2 emissions.
