Fiesta Sales Hit 150,000 in China

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

SHANGHAI, China – Chinese drivers continue to show their love for Ford Fiesta. In just two years since launching the vehicle in the market, Ford has sold an outstanding 150,000 Fiestas to excited consumers countrywide.

Fiesta sales in China passed the 150,000-vehicle sales milestone at the end of July, thanks to the continued popularity of the vehicle’s smart, fuel-efficient and fun-to-drive features. Contributing to Fiesta's sales success in China is the 2011 model year Fiesta, which hit showrooms in May. This new Fiesta combines technologically advanced upgrades with fashionable looks and class-leading five-star C-NCAP safety standards.

“We are very pleased with Fiesta passing the impressive 150,000-vehicle sales mark in such a short period of time. Fiesta has established a great reputation for itself among Chinese customers,” said Jiao Qian, Fiesta brand manager, Ford China. “With the 2011 model year Fiesta delivering even more class-leading features and better value for money, we're confident that it will continue its success in the Chinese market."

Changan Ford Mazda Automobile recently crafted two short Chinese videos – inspired by the popular American show “Mythbusters” – to outline the benefits of owning a Ford Fiesta.

In the myth-busting videos, three scientists conducted a series of tests on Fiesta to highlight the vehicle’s segment-leading Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) qualities and the strength of its boron steel frame.

The videos were posted on the Fiesta Zone website (
http://www.ford-fiesta.com.cn/index.html) and have received a great response from visitors.

Launched on May 18, the site is an informative and interactive tool to showcase Fiesta’s features, and at the same time provide information on other hot topics including technology, fashion and entertainment. Visitors can also play interactive Fiesta games and join an online Fiesta fan community to share their personal experiences.

One of Fiesta’s key selling points is its affordability. The current price tag for Fiesta in China ranges from RMB 79,900 (USD 11,750) to RMB 112,900 (USD 16,600).

Launched as Ford’s first global car, Fiesta has achieved brilliant results across all major markets. More than 15 million Fiestas have been produced globally since it was first introduced in 1976.
