MEDAN, Indonesia – Ford Motor Indonesia (FMI) held a media briefing in Medan on October 1 to outline the company's recent activities. Journalists from 12 key media groups attended the event, which was held at the largest dealership in Indonesia, Ford Gatot Subroto.
“We are confident in the North Sumatra market as our share continues to grow – quarter by quarter – despite the economic impact from the global downturn,” said FMI President Director, Will Angove. “Ford has managed to increase our overall market share in segments we compete from 13.9% to 14.7%. In fact, the Ford Everest jumped from 31.5% to 46.5% in the MUV segment in North Sumatra alone, which is a very positive sign for our nameplate here."
"Moreover, we managed a slight increase in our overall market share in North Sumatra, and our data shows that Ford North Sumatra branches have now sold nearly 3,000 units since opening in 2003,” said Angove.
As part of its long-term plan for Ford in Medan, the Ford store in Jalan Adam Malik has merged into the massive Ford Medan Gatot Subroto Superstore that is owned and operated by PT. Auto Kencana Andalas. The company also has another branch in Aceh.
Like all other Ford dealerships, it is built in compliance with Ford’s Brand@Retail global standards, providing prospective and current customers a unique brand experience. Located in Medan’s primary business district, Jalan Gatot Subroto, this spacious 4,300 square meter Superstore offers sales and after-sale services.
Ford is the first ATPM (Authorised Trade Mark Holder) in Indonesia to boast an inter-connected spare parts supply system across all dealers, which is supported by a comprehensive spare parts warehouse in Sunter. The warehouse is equipped with modern service systems such as PANDA and SERVIS2, to ensure parts availability to consumers across the country.
The globally popular Ford Fiesta will launch in Indonesia next year, and FMI believes it will be a hit in the country's small car automotive market.
"I'm confident that 2010 will be an increasingly exciting time for Ford Motor Indonesia,” concluded Angove.
