DEARBORN - Ford Export and Growth (E&G) continued a history-making trend in July by recording its best-ever monthly sales performance.
With 14,169 vehicles sold, E&G surpassed its previous all-time monthly sales record, set in February, by 451 vehicles. Year-to-date E&G has sold 91,208 vehicles, 8 percent more than a year ago.
Several markets and vehicle lines contributed to E&G’s record performance. Sub-Saharan Africa sales totaled 1,239 in July, up 30 percent from prior year. Sales in the Caribbean and Central America and Ford Middle East regions were up 7 percent and 3 percent respectively.
Other notable performances include:
• Sales in Israel totaled 1,711 vehicles, up an impressive 131 percent from prior year. Through July, Ford remained the number two brand in the country. In addition, the Ford Focus continues to be the best-selling vehicle in Israel, securing its seventh-consecutive month in the top spot.
• In South Korea, Ford and Lincoln sales totaled 456, representing a 117 percent increase from July 2011. In addition, Ford increased its market share in South Korea by 1.9 points. Sales and share gains were driven by increased Focus sales and early traction from the launch of Ford’s first primary brand campaign in South Korea.
• Puerto Rico grew sales 28 percent from prior year, with 929 vehicles sold. Preliminary data indicates Ford closed July with a 12.2 percent market share – a 1.2 point increase from the prior year, solidifying its position as the number two brand on the island.
• Coming off of four record months, E&G Fleet continued to flourish – year-to-date Fleet sales are up 41 percent compared with last year. July sales successes were fueled primarily by Ranger but also supported by the F-Series Super Duty.
Several vehicle lines contributed to E&G’s July success. E&G sold 2,750 Rangers – 65 percent more than last July -- putting Ranger back on top as the best-selling vehicle in E&G as the new trucks are now starting to arrive in mass in many E&G markets.
In addition, July was an all-time record month for Focus, with 2,082 sales. It was also the second-best-ever month for the Ford Expedition, with 2,430 sales.
“I am so grateful for the contributions of the entire E&G team,” said Hal Feder, E&G executive director. “We are doing something all new, and it’s always fun to make history. But we have to raise our sights and keep focused on delivering our plan, which calls for even more aggressive sales through the rest of the year.”
E&G is forecasting increased monthly sales every month from August through December, ranging from 14,300 to 15,200 per month.
“I’m confident we can do it,” said Feder. “I believe in our team and our plan. And when you factor in the strength of our new products, and the passion and drive of our E&G dealer network, we have the ability to really take E&G to a new level.”
Export and Growth provides sales, marketing, service, logistics, planning and financial support to dealers and distributors in four regions – Ford Middle East, Caribbean and Central America, Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia-Pacific.
