DEARBORN - What’s the best way to get employees excited about Lincoln? Let them get behind the wheel and experience just how far the vehicles have come. This fall, 175 lucky employees are doing just that, experiencing the Lincoln lineup firsthand.
“I really enjoyed driving the MKX,” said Cori Cooper, associate, Human Resources. “I felt surrounded by luxury the moment I opened the car door, and what a smooth ride, too. I didn’t want to give it back. I know what our next car will be.”
Nearly 5,000 employees applied to be included in a Lincoln lottery for a two-night vehicle drive of a Lincoln MKS, MKT, MKX, MKZ or MKZ Hybrid.
"This is the first time I've spent more than a few minutes driving any hybrid, and I am truly impressed with MKZ Hybrid," said Todd Gray, manager, Strategy and Advanced Planning. "The well-executed interior adds to the feeling of everything being engineered to a high degree, and it doesn't hurt that the scent of the leather is intoxicating. Also, the way the hybrid operation is visually conveyed to the driver goes beyond informative. It naturally and effectively engaged me to strive for optimum efficiency. For me to have a lot of fun achieving 41.2 mpg is remarkable considering my usual definition of driving enjoyment involves downshifting combined with prodigious throttle application in my V8 Mustang."
As employees continue to get behind the wheel of the Lincoln lineup, they are experiencing the changes the Lincoln team has been making during the past few years.
They are able to become better ambassadors for Lincoln now and be ready for the next generation of cars and utilities that start debuting soon. Lincoln is delivering seven new or significantly freshened vehicles during the next three years.
"I received the Silver MKT, and I loved it," Patricia Watkins, checker/receiver, Maintenance Operations. "After driving a Lincoln, you want to go out and purchase one. I drove my family around, showed it to my friends and smiled all weekend."
Overall, employees have been enthusiastic about the Lincoln vehicles and are pleasantly surprised with the drive experience and features loaded in each of the products.
"I found the driving dynamics of the MKS very agreeable compared to my Fusion," said Randall Holmes, resource management, Body Interior Engineering. "I enjoyed driving this vehicle. The push-button start and rear window sunshade were very nice features."
For some employees this is more than just a test drive, it's an experience they will never forget.
"This is a luxury car with remarkable engine power, exceptional ride comfort, generous amounts of space and a nice interior finish," said Agata Markiewicz, financial analyst, Americas Business Strategy. "I will always remember my experience. The MKT was a part of one of the most important events to happened in my life – I drove it to the ceremony where I became a U.S. Citizen. Thank you for making my two days a great, enjoyable and unforgettable experience!"
