BRENTWOOD, England – The Fiesta has made a flying start to 2014 year with a double awards success. Ford’s top-selling small car has been named as 2014 Best Small Car in the prestigious What Car? Awards, with the ST voted Best Hot Hatch.
Chas Hallett, What Car? editor-in-chief, said: “No other car in this class can beat the Fiesta’s excellent ride and handling.”
It is the second year in a row that Ford has triumphed in the Hot Hatch category, with the Focus ST winning in 2013.
“The Fiesta ST is a total and utter triumph,” added Hallett. “It’s too soon to tell whether it will join the ranks of the hot hatch legends, but we certainly wouldn’t bet against it.”
The Fiesta topped the UK sales charts every month last year, with total sales at almost 122,000 – the best year for Fiesta since 1996.
Mark Ovenden, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director, said: “Ford is rightly proud of Fiesta’s remarkable sales achievements, and also of the exceptional number of industry awards it continues to collect. The demand for new Fiesta means one is sold every 30 seconds during business hours.”
