Hello from Auto China 2014 in Beijing!
This weekend, the Beijing auto show gets underway and we have terrific stories to share with the world.
We have started already with today’s official launch of the Lincoln brand in China. This not only marks a major milestone in Lincoln’s nearly 100-year history, but it is an important part of our One Ford plan and demonstrates our strong commitment to China and the success of Lincoln globally. Designed specifically for China customers, the Lincoln team has created an innovative new model for luxury automotive ownership, called The Lincoln Way, which shifts luxury automotive ownership from a sales and service transaction model to a relationship-based experience model. This Saturday, we will celebrate the Ford Mustang’s 50th Anniversary. Not only is Mustang turning 50 years old, but this embodiment of the spirit of the Ford brand is coming to several markets in the AP region, including China, for the first time. It’s sure to be one great party.
And the excitement doesn’t end there. When the auto show officially kicks off Sunday, we will reveal a brand new concept vehicle and an all-new production vehicle making its global debut. The development of both vehicles was led by our talented PD team right here in Asia Pacific. We also will showcase the 2015 Mustang, display industry-leading safe and smart technologies, and unveil our new outdoor experience where visitors can experience Ford vehicles firsthand.
Maybe most exciting are the special guests who have travelled to Asia to support us. Alan Mulally and Jim Farley are here in Beijing to help tell the Ford and Lincoln stories and showcase the significance of Asia Pacific to the global Ford plan.
