COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Ford Fiesta EcoBoost has beaten all its rivals in a series of comparison tests staged by leading Danish motoring journalists.
Flemming Haslund, who writes for Jyllands-Posten, Politiken, Ekstra-Bladet, Nordjyske, Herning Folkeblad, Jyske Vestkysten, Jubii and TV2, rates Fiesta 1.0-litre EcoBoost (100HP) Trend against Hyundai i20, Kia Rio, Opel Corsa, Peugeot 208, Renault Clio, Seat Ibiza, Suzuki Swift, Toyota Yaris and VW Polo.
His verdict? “The cabin is lovely with a good steering wheel and a good driving position. The engine is modern and comfortable, which you at first impression perceive to be 4-cylindered. But at this moment the 3-cylindered engines are the best. A clean and strong, dynamic engine with low consumption. It is certainly best in test in steering, with good contact between asphalt and steering wheel.
“The winner of the comparison test is the only car to receive 5 the highest score at 5 stars. The Fiesta has the best drive agility and a convincing engine, which repeatedly are granting most and consumes least, and the price is in the middle of the field.”
Fellow Danish road testers Morten Kjeldsen and Henrik Drebolt also compared Fiesta 1.0-litre EcoBoost (100HP) to the same competitor models.
Kjeldsen reports: “The Fiesta is the winner. Although the backseat are too narrowed, I actually sit great at the front seat and the engine is amazing, because it manages to be the tests most powerful and yet the least thirsty. Despite the unequal cylinders, the Ecooboost engine is moderate and almost free of vibrations. At 100Km/h it spins 2.200o/m and the gearshift are precise as only Ford can manages. The drive agility is excellent”.
Meanwhile, Drebolt concludes: “Excellent drive agility and a fabulous engine. As a car enthusiast it is hard to not love the Fiesta. Although the design of the cabin is too narrowed, I am a car enthusiast and it is hard to not get weak knees over the front, which is stolen directly from Aston Martin. Well if you need to steel, steel from the best. Combined with its sharp price, it is only the Rio who can be a threat to take the Fiesta´s first place”.
