LONDON, England – The Ford Ranger is the most ruggedly capable pick-up on the market and to get that that message across, Ford of Europe has enlisted the help of ruggedly capable Ranger Nick.
Tough, challenge-loving Ranger Nick is the star of a n ew advertising campaign running in specialist publications. The ads, created by London-based Ogilvy Advertising, are in the breathless style of classic comic book covers from the 1940s and 1950s and were penned by artist Mark Thomas.
In the three eye-catching ads hero Nick is seen salvaging a downed airplane from a stormy ocean, escaping a flooded jungle temple and capturing a giant ape that looks suspiciously like King Kong.
Each scenario communicates key messages about the ruggedness of the Ford model.
The ads break with traditional pick-up advertising, which typically shows a model in an off-road location.
