 Changan Ford Racing Team celebrates double success in round 5 of the China Touring Car Championship

INNER MONGOLIA, China -- At the half-way mark of the season, and after a two-month break, the 2010 China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) kicked back into racing action on September 23 and 24 at the Ordos International Circuit in Inner Mongolia.


Qualifying Sessions

The CTCC 2000cc class qualifying sessions began on the 23rd.  The Changan Ford Racing Team drivers were well placed with Tengyi Jang powering his Focus to first row behind pole position. Despite his Focus being 100kg heavier than the others, Martin Cao was in 3rd spot, while Rainey He and Andy Zhen were in 6th and 8th respectively.

Race Day

Race 5 revved into gear at 2.30 on September 24 with Tengyi making the perfect start by taking the lead in turn one. His team mate, Martin Cao did not fare so well and had to retire early after some minor clashes in the opening stages.

Tengyi's lead closed immediately after the safety car was sent out, but he managed to regain a small lead ahead of competing drivers.

With things calming down on the track, Tengyi Jiang eased his Focus across the finish line in first place. In addition to enjoying a near perfect drive, he set the fastest race lap time of 1:56.359. and collected 10 points for his triumph. Michael Ho finished 2nd.

In 5th place was Andy Zhen while Rainey He finished 10th spot. Thanks to their combined efforts the team was able to increase their lead in the race to 20 points.
