SHANGHAI, China — Coasting with a 7.7-second advantage, Changan Ford’s Andy Yan reached the checkered flag for the second round of the 2013 China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) in first place, claiming his third consecutive title for the Shanghai International Circuit in two years.
Meticulously tuned by specialists, Yan’s New Focus sedan boasts better drag coefficient of up to 6 percent and a more stable body, giving him a significant advantage when handling the curvy tracks.
“I was lucky this weekend,” Yan told the press conference after the race. “Thanks to the team for such an amazing car.”
“From pole position in the starting lineup to the eventual win, the tuning has played an essential role. It helped me win the race,” he added.
Besides its CTCC glory, the New Focus has also proven a success off the track. The sales volume in China of the Ford Focus for the first four months of this year reached 126,853. The Ford Focus was the world’s best-selling nameplate in 2012.
The next round of CTCC will be held at Tianmashan Circuit, Shanghai, on June 9.
