DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

BEIJING, China — Ford’s joint venture company Changan Ford officially launched the New Ford Fiesta in China on February 28. The New Ford Fiesta is now available to order with a pre-sale price ranging from RMB 82,900 to RMB 119,900 (from US$13,160 to US$19,030).

The grand launch event, Fiesta Night, featured a mix of dancing and fashion shows at the Beijing Langyuan Vintage Art Center.

Senior executives from Changan Ford, including Wesley Liu, general manager, Changan Ford Sales Company and Chen Xu, executive deputy general manager, Changan Ford Sales Company introduced the media to the New Ford Fiesta, a redesigned stylish small car packed with an array of smart technologies, including SYNC voice-activated connectivity technology, Ford Power Start, and Smart Keyless Entry.

“With a 36-year heritage, Fiesta has evolved into its sixth generation, with each generation a success in the market. The Fiesta remains a leader in the global small-car segment,” said Liu. “Designed with input from Ford’s global design team, the New Ford Fiesta will continue to lead the way and provide customers with an even better ownership experience.”

As a best-selling nameplate for Ford, the Fiesta continues to win the hearts of younger drivers with its cutting edge technology and stylish design. Since its launch in 1976, Ford has sold more than 15 million models around the world.

To shed light on the design features that make the nameplate a success and encourage inspirational new ideas, Joel Piaskowski, director of design, Ford Asia Pacific, and Zhang Chi, a Chinese fashion designer, held a cross-discipline dialogue. Piaskowski shared with the media the elements on the New Ford Fiesta that inspired by Ford’s highly acclaimed kinetic design while Zhang talked about current fashion trend and inspirations he had from the New Ford Fiesta.

“I’ve benefited a lot and gained inspiration from the cross-discipline cooperation between the fashion and auto industry.” said Piaskowski. “To me, the event is very productive and I’m very happy to share all such experiences and inspiration with my colleagues.”

The New Ford Fiesta features a sharper and more dynamic exterior design. The face of the car is dominated by a trapezoidal front grille – a signature of Ford’s new global family. The power-dome bonnet design and chrome finishes in front add to the changes, giving the car a sportier and more modern appearance. To cater to different customer needs, the New Ford Fiesta provides a choice of 10 body colors.

The New Ford Fiesta also comes with a more efficient 1.5L engine that combines excellent power with outstanding fuel economy. Paired with a six-speed PowerShift™ transmission, the engine delivers up to 81kW power and peak torque of 140 Nm.

“The upgraded powertrain is the biggest selling point of the new Ford Fiesta. It now comes with a class-leading dual-clutch gearbox. I believe it will become a popular car among young consumer,” said Du Xu, from Bitauto.
To generate more consumer interaction and online buzz, Ford also kicked off a consumer campaign – “Fiesta. 24 Hours” – a global marketing campaign for the New Ford Fiesta. Participants not only have the opportunity to win tickets to the 2013 China Auto Show in Shanghai, but also have the chance to take the New Ford Fiesta out for a 24-hour test drive to explore the city.

Starting from mid-March, Changan Ford will hold car review events for the New Ford Fiesta in six major Chinese cities including Chongqing, Jinan, Suzhou, Nanjing, Shenyang and Wuhan.
