SHANGHAI, ChinaChangan Ford Racing team has continued its dominance of the China Touring Car Championships, winning its fourth consecutive Manufacturer’s title in advance during this year’s penultimate stop in Shanghai. The team has now won five championships in seven years.

Despite carrying 200 kg of extra weight, Changan Ford racer Rainey He still managed to finish third, maintaining top position currently on the driver’s board. Together with teammate Jiang Tengyi, who finished fourth, Changan Ford also has a great chance of securing the Driver’s title in final round, scheduled in early November.

“The great results the Changan Ford Racing Team has achieved in the CTCC in winning the championship five times in the past seven years reflects the dedication Ford has to motorsport in China, as well as to the outstanding performance of our CCTC team and the excellent credentials of the Ford Focus,” said Marin Burela, president, Changan Ford Mazda Automobile (CFMA).

“And, Focus is not only succeeding on the race track but is also proving to be a winner with our customers achieving record sales and making the Focus the best-selling passenger car in China in August and September.”

“We appreciate the tremendous support that we are receiving from our motorsport fans and we are extremely proud that we have been able to serve our Chinese customers with world class cars like the Ford Focus with over a million Focus’s sold since its introduction in September 2005.  We are committed to continue to provide our customers exciting cars with expressive design, affordable and innovative technologies, superior quality, responsive performance and exceptional fuel economy. ”added Burela.

The hard-earned victory came on the heels of CFMA’s celebration of a major milestone in China. The Ford Focus, the company’s hot-selling nameplate, reached the 1,000,000 unit sales mark in China on September 28, demonstrating its popularity among Chinese consumers.

”With an excellent product and brand reputation, Changan Ford has won the trust of a great number of Chinese customers since it entered the market. We have every reason to believe that the Ford Focus will build on the strong heritage of the Focus brand in China and continue to lead the mid-car segment,” said Luo Minggang, executive vice president, CFMA.
