SHANGHAI, China — The Changan Ford Racing Team ruled the roost on the third stop of the 2013 China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) by grabbing the top four places, extending its lead in the manufacturer's standing to 12 points.

Shanghai Tianmashan Circuit, where the race was held, is best known for its tight curves, which make passing difficult.

Fortunately, the Changan team was driving the new Focus sedans with precision suspension and steering.   The combination of the car's performance and handling and the teams’ expertise and effective strategy proved unbeatable and four blue new Focus racing cars were saluted by the checkered flag.

Coasting easily to the win with a 15-second advantage, Andy Yan captured his second successive Shanghai title this season. Yan also posted the fastest lap during the race.

“Winning the championship has always been our objective,” said Yan after the race. “Thanks to the team, and the superb car, which helped us achieve our goal so easily.”

While Yan had a clear lead heading towards the checkered flag, other Changan Ford team members put on a remarkable internal race for second with Rainy He and Jiang Tengyi dueling back and forth until the last few laps when Tengyi finally took charge.

“It was a long race with 29 laps,” said He after finishing third. “The results showcased our capability as one of the strongest teams in the CTCC.”

Finishing fourth, He’s teammate Martin Xie was credited for his professionalism by his teammates for hanging back in fourth and allowing his three teammates to maintain a comfortable victory.

After the race, Changan Ford President and CEO Marin Burela expressed his appreciation for the team’s effort: “I am delighted that Changan Ford Racing is leading the CTCC Team Championship and Andy Yan is leading the Racer’s Championship after today’s brilliant win at Shanghai Tianma. I want to thank Andy and our whole racing team for their hard work.  This makes Changan Ford Racing and our New Focus Sedan double winners, taking the checkered flag at both Shanghai races. Our customers are also winners. The new Focus sedan delivers all of the excitement and pure driving pleasure of racing victory into the hands of Focus owners every time they get behind the wheel."

After their outstanding performance in this race, the Changan Ford team has 51 points, recapturing the lead in the standings. The fourth round will be held in Ordos.
Specially-tuned new Focus sedans offer great controllability, help drivers to win the race easily.
Changan Ford now has a 12-point-lead on the manufacturing standing.
