Cape Town Success for Team Ford Racing

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

PRETORIA, South Africa — The second round of the Bridgestone Production Car Championship at Killarney was highly successful for Team Ford Racing. Gary Formato and Shaun Duminy were able to secure a total of five podium finishes between them, resulting in a first and second place finish for Ford.

The BP/Castrol Ford Focus STs showed tremendous pace. However, the weekend was one of fierce competition and challenges. After qualifying second, Formato lost a position at the start of the first race and was relegated to third position. He held his place until the end, taking his first podium finish of the day.

Things were a lot tougher for Duminy – electrical problems plagued him during qualifying and the first race. The team was able to make repairs in time for the second race.

With Formato starting in fourth place and Duminy in ninth, both drivers had good starting positions for the second race. Unfortunately, Formato was forced to retire from the race with suspension problems, but Duminy went on to take the runner-up spot on the podium.

Formato’s suspension was replaced before the third race and he was able to take third position.

Another partially inverted grid placed Duminy third and Formato in fourth position for the final race of the day. Formato was in first place by the end of the second lap, with Duminy following in second place, a formation they held all the way to the finish line.

The next round of the championship will take place in Port Elizabeth on April 30, 2011.
