CHONGQING, China - There was a chorus of loud cheers and clapping when the first 2011 Ford Mondeo was driven off the Changan Ford Mazda Automotive (CFMA) Chongqing plant production line on the afternoon of February 25.
The 2011 Mondeo is the first Ford nameplate in China to be equipped with Ford's eco-friendly and award winning EcoBoost engine.
On hand to celebrate the production milestone was CFMA President, Marin Burela and CFMA Executive Vice President, Luo Minggang.
"The introduction of the 2011 Mondeo, which is equipped with one of the most advanced powertrains in China, further demonstrates our commitment and confidence in the Chinese market," said Burela.
He added, "The EcoBoost engine is an environmentally friendly engine demanded by an increasing number of customers in China and around the world. It provides superior power and torque with improved fuel economy and lower emissions."
The Ford EcoBoost engine, combined with Ford's PowerShift transmission technology, enables the new Mondeo to deliver more horsepower using less fuel.
The 2.0L EcoBoost engine is capable of delivering 176.5kW/6000rpm (240bhp) and maximum torque of 340 N•m/1900-3500 rpm. The new engine also achieves impressive fuel economy of 7.9 litres per 100km.
The 2011 Ford Mondeo vehicles are expected in Ford China showrooms from mid-March. Ford Mondeo was first introduced in China in 2007.
