CHONGQING, China – Seventy percent of the parts of a Ford vehicle come from various suppliers across all tiers, so to build solid relationships with suppliers and to ensure the quality of the parts are critical to Ford’s success in the competitive Chinese market. To further ramp up efforts to deliver high growth and a profitable business in partnership with supplier partners, Ford’s Chinese joint venture Changan Ford Mazda Automotive (CFMA) held its 2012 Supplier Senior Management Quality Excellence Summit in Chongqing.
Entering its 6th year, the summit was organised by Qian Harris and her supplier technical assistant. This year’s summit focused on developing direct communication between CFMA and its suppliers regarding achievements, business strategy, and most importantly, high quality standards. This year 350 suppliers attended the summit and were warmly welcomed by Marin Burela, president, CFMA, and Minggang Luo, executive vice president, CFMA and Jun Gao, vice president, CFMA.

During the jam-packed half-day summit, the Warranty Reduction Requirements and Overall Supplier Quality Report and New Program Launch Requirements were passed onto the suppliers.
Some suppliers were awarded the Q1 Supplier Award and Quality Excellence Award due to their excellent performance and they shared their experiences about the recent new Ford Focus launch.
Thanks to the dedication and commitment of the suppliers, CFMA’s quality and customer satisfaction have improved significantly. Compared with 2011, Things Gone Wrong (TGW) and customer satisfaction have already improved 33% and 16% in second quarter of 2012 respectively. The quality of the Ford Fiesta, Focus and Mondeo ranked at the top amongst the best quality passenger cars in Ford globally.
"CFMA’s supplier base has made significant improvements in the recent years; continuous improvements in quality are essential for us to compete in this highly competitive market," said Minggang Luo.
Jun Gao, vice president of CFMA also re-emphased CFMA's Sourcing for Quality strategy at the summit.
“Suppliers’ quality performance, Q1 status, and new program launch performance will have a significant impact on future sourcing.”

CFMA’s suppliers are committed to investing in the new plants to support and grow with the partner. According to the suppliers, 115 of them have plants in Chongqing, 21 new plants were built in Chongqing last year, 12 more are to be built in Chongqing in the near future.
