DEARBORN - Not enough time in the day but you're looking to purchase a new car - shopping for a new vehicle while on the go just got easier from your smartphone.
"You can go from a shopper to an owner in one site," said Trisha Habucke, digital marketing manager, Ford Motor Company.
Recent upgrades to the mobile version of www.Ford.com allow full access to the sites functions from any smartphone – with Apple iOS, Android or Blackberry Torch operating systems.
Not only does the mobile version mirror the desktop site, but the implementation of advanced HTML5 – the newest version of html which caters to the needs of web application developers - enables mobilized shopping tools that can be used to purchase a new car without logging on to a desktop or browsing through a dealer lot.
"We're finding that a lot of people are developing their own apps and websites but this was already built," said Habucke. "A number of people are abandoning desktops and we don’t want to fall behind."
Staying on top of the trend, the Ford.com mobile site is more technologically advanced and user friendly that any of the competitors' sites, according to Habucke. Mobile activity accounts for 11 percent of total traffic to the Ford.com site.
The new cutting-edge features enable shoppers to colorize the interior and exterior of the vehicle, with a full 360-design, build on price and then submit a quote. Other features include viewing the vehicle showroom, searching dealer inventory and more.
If you don’t have a smartphone the mobile site is still available on phones with mobile web capabilities with the same assets and features without HTML5.
