JAKARTA, Indonesia — Ford's commitment to providing class-leading vehicles under its One Ford plan continues to gain recognition in key Asian markets - as the all-new Focus has been named 'Car of the Year' by AutoBild magazine in Indonesia.
"The all-new Ford Focus is evidence of One Ford in action, and truly represents the best of the Ford Motor Company,” said Bagus Susanto, managing director, Ford Motor Indonesia, as he received the award. "The all-new Focus significantly raises the bar in the compact segment with a class-leading package of design, innovation, quality, performance, and fuel economy."
"It is not only delighting our customers, but also helping expand the appeal of the Focus to a whole new generation of Ford customers," added Bagus.
Soni Riharto, editor-in-chief, AutoBild, said that that as part of its 2012 Green Tech campaign this year's AutoBild Award for Car of the Year placed greater emphasis on fuel efficient and eco-friendly vehicles.
"Offering not only superior performance and a wide array of innovative features, but also outstanding fuel efficiency and low emissions, the all-new Ford Focus is more than fitting to receive the Car of the Year award," he said.
In addition to the COTY honor for the all-new Focus, Ford picked up three more awards from AutoBild.
All-New Focus, the Best Medium Sedan
The all-new Focus was also named the best in the Medium Sedan category. The combination of dynamic design and an exceptional array of smart technologies with high levels of craftsmanship, outstanding occupant safety and further advances in acclaimed levels of driving quality truly impressed the judges.
"The all-new Focus is well-known for its multitude of convenient features, such as Active Park Assist and Active City Stop. In terms of performance, the new Duratec 2.0-litre Ti-VCT GDi engine that combines high-pressure gasoline direct injection (GDi) and twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) makes the all-new Focus very fun to drive," lauded Susanto Ari, journalist, AutoBild, in his review. "Top that with a dynamic design offered at a very competitive price, the competition doesn't stand a chance."
All-New Fiesta, the Best Compact Hatchback and the Best Small Sedan
The all-new Fiesta scored a hat-trick by receiving the Best Compact Hatchback award for the third consecutive year. Such success is no easy feat as the compact hatchback segment in Indonesia is highly competitive, filled with many major industry players. However, Ford's compact car offers so much more.
"The all-new Fiesta hatchback was the first one to introduce the fun-to-drive dual-clutch six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission. It also provides the convenient Bluetooth with Voice Control system, which is still unrivalled in its segment," commended M. A. Prapanca, journalist, AutoBild. "At the current offering, the all-new Ford Fiesta five-door hatchback has the best value-for-money, and is worthy to retain its crown as the Best Compact Hatchback."
Sharing similar winning traits with its five-door sibling, the all-new Ford Fiesta sedan, launched earlier this year, straightaway stole the Best Small Sedan award.
"The Bluetooth with Voice Control system continues to impress, even in the small sedan segment. Both manual- and automatic-transmission options provide superior driving experience. With outstanding fuel economy, the all-new Fiesta sedan will be a popular choice in big cities, such as Jakarta and Surabaya," praised Arief Junor, journalist, AutoBild.
The all-new Focus offers superior performance and a wide array of innovative features, as well as outstanding fuel efficiency and low emissions.
