All-New Ranger Dazzles on the Ford Stand at Thailand Motor Expo

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The public launch of the All-New Ford Ranger at the Thailand International Motor Expo 2011 is attracting a lot of attention, including a special visit from the U.S. Ambassador to Thailand, Kristie Kenney, who stopped by the Ford stand to ‘kick the tires’ and have a look around.

Kenney, who already counts the All-New Ford Fiesta among her favorite cars, seemed to be thoroughly impressed with the All-New Ranger, jumping inside to check out its interior features and demo its Connectivity package with voice command, before literally jumping onto the Ranger’s tailgate with Ford ASEAN president, Peter Fleet, to test its class-leading strength.

Kenney was her usual animated self, greeted the Ford sales team on the stand and leading them in some hand-raising cheers.

The day prior, applause echoed across the Ford stand from the roughly 300 journalists on hand after Fleet stepped aside for the ASEAN reveal of the range-topping All-New Ford Ranger 3.2L ‘Wildtrak’ 4x4 model.

"Combining the toughness and capability of a pickup truck with smart technology, outstanding safety, excellent fuel economy, quality and comfort, the All-New Ranger will redefine the pickup truck segment in Thailand and markets across ASEAN,” said Fleet.

“The All-New Ford Ranger is brought to you by Ford, a company that knows trucks, and can take on anything you throw at it. That’s why we say it’s ‘All-New Ford Ranger versus the world'.”

Other VIPs stopping by the Ford stand have included Thirachai Phuvanatnaranubala, Thailand’s Finance Minister and former Minister of Tourism, Weerasak Kowsurat, who booked a new All-New Ranger 2.2L Wildtrak highlight silver on the spot.

Joining Ford on press day were the five Thailand finalists for the Global Ford Ranger Challenge, who were available throughout the day to explain why their depictions of the toughest, real-life challenges for the All-New Ranger should win the Challenge.

The Global Ranger Challenge conclusion will be announced on 12 December, the final day of the Motor Expo, with the winner driving away with the ultimate prize – an All-New Ford Ranger Hi-Rider Double Cab 4x2 with six-speed automatic transmission in Aurora Blue.

Ford also celebrated the arrival of two new editions to the award-winning All-New Ford Fiesta line-up at the Motor Expo kick-off.

The Ford Fiesta Sport+ was introduced, featuring the fuel-efficient, first-in-class 1.6L Ti-VCT engine with PowerShift six-speed automatic transmission that offers class-leading fuel efficiency and CO2 emission levels.

Other first-in-class features include a striking and stylish chrome-beltline, automatic climate control and leather interior, as well as a connectivity package with voice control paired with Bluetooth.

Ford also launched a vibrant new colour for the All New Fiesta – ‘Icy Blue’ – expanding the rainbow of colours for the Fiesta to a total of 11, showing there is a Fiesta to match every personality and lifestyle.
