BANGKOK, Thailand — Ford Motor Company today announced its show lineup for the 28th Thailand International Motor Expo, with the class-leading All-New Ford Ranger taking centre stage.
Ford will unveil additional All-New Ford Ranger models at the Expo – including the ASEAN reveal of its range-topping Double Cab 4x4 Hi-Rider 3.2L Wildtrak. Ford is also planning to announce pricing for additional models of its segment-defining, all-new global compact pickup truck at the start of the Expo.
"Our confidence in the All-New Ranger was reaffirmed at our highly successful international media ride-and-drive event this month in Chiang Rai, where we were told repeatedly and resoundingly that the All-New Ranger will redefine the one-ton pickup segment,” said Peter Fleet, president of Ford ASEAN. “The All-New Ranger’s class-leading performance, quality, capability, fuel efficiency and smart technologies will redefine the pickup truck segment in Thailand and across our ASEAN markets.”
Totally new from the ground up, the All-New Ranger was designed to be a segment defining vehicle in the market, appealing to customers who use it for work, leisure, or both. The next-generation Ranger is packed with innovative and comfort features that a dual-user of pickups has come to want and value.
Thailand serves as one of three global production and export hubs for the All-New Ranger – the others being South Africa and Argentina – which will be sold in 180 markets worldwide, making it one of the widest-reaching Ford vehicles globally.
Joining the All-New Ranger on the Ford stand will be the new Ford Fiesta Sport+, with first-in-class features that include the 1.6L Ti-VCT engine with PowerShift six-speed automatic transmission, a striking and stylish chrome-waistline, automatic climate control and leather interior.
The Electronic Stability Program and a Connectivity package with Voice Control technology paired with Bluetooth, are among several first-in-segment technologies that the Ford Fiesta delivers.
The Sport+ adds to the class-leading and award-winning Ford Fiesta lineup, which will also be on display at the Expo.
The Global Ford Ranger Challenge – a global experiential marketing campaign that puts the claim of “Built Ford Tough” to the ultimate test – received nearly 700 entries in Thailand from consumers who wanted to experience the truck’s capabilities first-hand.
The five Thailand finalists for the Global Ford Ranger Challenge will be introduced at the Ford stand on press day, and will be available throughout the day to explain why their depictions of the toughest, real-life challenges for the All-New Ranger should win the Challenge.
Visitors will be able to watch each finalists’ Challenge video at the Ford stand and vote for their favorite via an interactive touch screen.
The Global Ranger Challenge conclusion will be announced on 12 December, the final day of the Motor Expo, with the winner driving away with the ultimate prize – an All-New Ford Ranger Hi-Rider Double Cab 4x2 with six-speed automatic transmission in Aurora Blue.
Voting is currently open at the official Thai Global Ford Ranger Challenge website: www.fordrangerchallengethailand.com
Special Ford campaigns will be available at the Motor Expo and Ford dealerships throughout the country through the end of the year.
The 28th Thailand International Motor Expo 2011 runs from 1-12 December at Impact Challenger, Muang Thong Thani.
