MOSCOW, Russia – Ford Sollers today announced that the all-new Ford Mondeo and the new Ford Focus will launch in Russia in 2015. The new models will be built at the Ford Sollers plant in Vsevolozhsk where the current Focus and Mondeo are manufactured.
Active preparation for the start of production will begin at Vsevolozhsk plant in the second half of 2014 and will include re-equipping the facility and teaching workers new manufacturing processes.
The all-new Mondeo, the first model built on Ford’s new global CD-segment platform to deliver more driver-focused, dynamic performance, offers a sleek design and new levels of premium-level interior craftsmanship and ergonomics.
The new Ford Focus elevates the world’s best-selling nameplate with a bolder, more emotive exterior design, a finely crafted, intuitive new interior, a suite of life-enhancing new technologies and major fuel economy improvements.
When production of the Ford Focus first started at the Ford Vsevolozhsk plant near St. Petersburg in 2002, it was the first automotive production facility operated by a foreign brand in Russia.
More than 700 000 Russians have bought a Ford Focus since the model was launched on the Russian market. Last year Ford Focus remained the best-selling C-segment car in the country.
Production of Ford Mondeo in sedan body style started at the Ford Vsevolozhsk plant in March 2009. Mondeo is one of the popular cars in its segment in Russia with more than 100,000 sold to-date.
