All-New Ford Focus Drives into China

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

HAIKOU, China — Ford Motor Company, together with its Chinese joint venture Changan Ford Mazda Automobile (CFMA), has successfully launched the all-new Ford Focus in China. Building on the success of the current generation Focus, the all-new Ford Focus sets a new standard in the compact car segment in China with its expressive design, combination of smart technologies and outstanding fuel economy.

At the debut event held in Haikou, Ford announced that the all-new Focus, built at CFMA’s newly launched Chongqing Assembly Plant 2, will be available in two body styles, a sporty five-door hatchback and a sleek four-door sedan across 12 new variants.

The new generation of Focus also comes with two new fuel-efficient engines, a 1.6-litre Ti-VCT engine and a 2.0-litre GDi engine. When paired with Ford's advanced six-speed PowerShift dual clutch automatic, these powertrains offer class-leading fuel efficiency to customers.

"We've made tremendous progress in fuel economy and performance by combining direct injection and Ti-VCT technologies. The enhanced powertrains will allow more Chinese consumers to benefit from better car handling and fuel efficiency," said Nigel Harris, general manager, Changan Ford Sales Company.

"The all-new Focus is the first true global car under the One Ford strategy. It is also the first of 15 vehicles that Ford plans to bring to China by 2015. The new Focus delivers on our ongoing commitment to bring to China the newest and best products which our customers truly value and want,” said Marin Burela, CFMA president.

In addition to new powertrains, an array of advanced smart technologies are introduced in the all-new Focus, which includes Ford's award winning SYNC system that provides hands-free, voice-activated in-car connectivity to customers in an easy-to-use manner. The all-new Focus is also the first Ford vehicle in China to offer the voice-activated Ford SYNC system in Mandarin.

Other driver-assistance technologies available in the all-new Focus include an advanced collision-mitigation system, Active City Stop, Active Park Assist and Blind Spot Information System (BLIS). Many of these features are a first in the C-segment.

“The all-new Focus will bring to the Chinese market features and smart technologies that were previously not available in the C-segment. We are confident that the new Focus will capture the hearts and minds of Chinese customers and will build on the strong heritage of the Focus’ brand in the Chinese market,” said Burela.
