PRETORIA, South Africa – The All-New Focus 2.0 TDCi Trend PowerShift sedan has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious 2012 South African Guild of Motoring Journalists Car of the Year competition. The finalists were revealed at the Johannesburg International Motor Show.
“A jury of South Africa’s leading motoring journalists has selected the All-New Focus as one of the most outstanding vehicles launched in the last year,” says Ben Pillay, marketing manager at Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA).
He said that during the past year, more than 320 models and derivatives were introduced, of which 25 vehicles were selected as semi-finalists. The All-New Focus 2.0 TDCi Trend PowerShift sedan then made it through to the final 10 vehicles which will go head-to-head in the final judging competition.
The finalists will be put through rigorous testing at the track judging days at Gerotek in February 2012, and the winner will be announced after the stringent voting process and the physical testing of the eligible cars are completed.
“The All-New Focus range offers quality, fuel efficiency, safety and smart technology beyond customer expectations. We believe these characteristics make the All-New Focus an attractive proposition for South African consumers and we have high hopes that the South African Guild of Motoring journalists will be as excited by the All-New Focus proposition as we are,” concluded Pillay.
