All-New Focus Launched at IIMS, Sets New Standard in Segment

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

JAKARTA, Indonesia — Ford Motor Indonesia (FMI) today officially launched the all-new Ford Focus at the 2012 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS).

Packed with an unmatched combination of smart technologies, outstanding fuel economy, expressive design, responsive performance and high levels of craftsmanship and occupant safety, this next-generation Focus significantly raises the bar in its segment.

"The all-new Focus represents the strengths and benefits of our global One Ford strategy in serving our customers across the country," said Bagus Susanto, managing director, FMI, formally introducing the sleek and sporty car in the archipelago. "We've gone further in every aspect of this next-generation vehicle to give our customers quality, fuel efficiency, safety and smart technology beyond their expectations."

Well-known for its many smart and affordable technologies that are segment- and even market-first, including Ford’s voice-activated SYNC® connectivity package, Active Park Assist and Active City Stop systems, the all-new Focus also features a completely new 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, which delivers 20 percent more power while improving fuel economy by 10 percent over the previous model.

"The new 2.0-litre DOHC four-cylinder engine on the all-new Focus delivers outstanding performance and fuel efficiency. Its streamlined shape, combined with the Active Grille Shutter system, further improved fuel efficiency," explained Roy Lontoh, product launch manager, FMI. "This goes well with the motor show theme this year, Eco-Mobility, which promotes fuel efficient driving in Indonesia."

Earlier this month, FMI kicked off an exciting, interactive and unprecedented all-new Focus pre-launch campaign, "Start it. Share it. Win it", that will continue during the motor show, engaging Indonesian consumers with real-life ‘smart-demos’ of two of the all-new Ford Focus’ first-in-segment, smart technologies.

"The level of engagement and excitement among consumers for the all-new Focus and ‘Start it. Share it. Win it.’ has far exceeded our expectations," said Gumgum Prijadi, marketing director, FMI. "The positive feedback on both the vehicle and campaign is evidence that Ford is really connecting with, and impressing, Indonesia consumers."

The all-new Focus is available at Ford dealerships nationwide in four models, including 1.6L AT Focus Trend in five-door hatchback and four-door sedan versions, 2.0L Focus Sport AT hatchback and 2.0L Focus Titanium AT sedan.

Customers can select a rainbow of colours – Ingot Silver, Winning Blue, Candy Red, Panther Black, Frozen White, and Lunar Sky - to beautify their all-new Focus.

Ford’s full display of vehicles at the IIMS includes the expanded line-up of its class-leading Ford Fiesta, including the recently launched and premium equipped five-door Ford Fiesta 1.6L Sport Limited Edition. This top-of-the-line Fiesta series model features a host of class-leading smart technologies and safety features, such as a first-in-segment seven-airbag configuration and cruise control.

Also on display is the full range of the class-defining all-new Ford Ranger, which has been met with extraordinary demand since its local launch in August, with customer bookings of nearly 3,000 units to date. The all-new Ranger has redefined the pickup truck segment by combining the toughness and capability of a pickup truck with smart technology, outstanding safety, excellent fuel economy, quality and comfort.

The Ford stand also features an upgraded Ford Everest family SUV, as well as the Ford Escape small SUV.

Ford's largest exhibition at Indonesia International Motor Show

Taking place at Jakarta International Expo in Kemayoran, this year's automotive exhibition space at IIMS is set to be the largest-ever in Southeast Asia. Ford is contributing to this with its biggest-ever Show display.

"At this year’s motor show, we have expanded our exhibit area to provide more touch points, including interactive displays that attendees can experience and truly understand our commitment to Indonesia. This is by far our biggest exhibition at the Indonesia International Motor Show," said Bagus.

Alongside its vehicle showcase, the Ford stand at IIMS will wow show-goers with an array of interactive displays. A Ford SYNC® display unit will give visitors a hands-on experience with this award-winning, hands-free technology system, allowing visitors to connect almost any mobile phone or digital media player to their Focus via Bluetooth® and USB connection respectively. The driver is then able to make calls or play their favourite music via voice commands.

The Ranger Towing Game enables visitors to see how much they can pull compared to the new Ranger, which boasts a towing capacity of 3,350 kilograms. Visitors are also invited to test their strength through arm-wrestling games.

A total of 35 automotive manufacturers are registered to exhibit private and commercial vehicles. The 2012 IIMS, which runs from September 20-30, is estimated to draw approximately 350,000 visitors.
