SEOUL – Continuing its unprecedented product momentum, Ford Korea is showcasing 12 Ford and Lincoln models at the 2013 Seoul Motor Show in the company’s largest-ever auto-show display in South Korea. The company is also debuting the all-new Lincoln MKZ and Lincoln MKZ Hybrid premium mid-size sedans, before the official launch of the vehicles this summer.
With the freshest product lineup in the import industry and its most expansive lineup ever in South Korea, Ford is launching four all-new products in 2013, including Focus Diesel, Fusion Hybrid, Lincoln MKZ and Lincoln MKZ Hybrid – all of which are expected to catch the audience’s attention at the 2013 motor show.
“Visitors to the Ford stand will see firsthand how Ford Korea plans to meet diverse customer needs with a portfolio of world-class models,” said Jae Jung, president and CEO of Ford Korea. “The 2013 Seoul Motor Show is a great opportunity to showcase Ford and Lincoln’s leadership through a line-up characterized by higher performance, more sophisticated design and greater efficiency and eco-friendliness.”
Additionally, Ford announced at the show that its all-new Ford Fusion Hybrid will deliver best-in-class fuel economy of 18.9 km/L – making it the most fuel-efficient hybrid available in its class when it arrives in South Korea later this year.
All-New Lincoln MKZ: Setting New Standards for the Luxury Mid-size Sedan
The all-new Lincoln MKZ, which is making its Asia debut in Korea when it launches this summer, is Lincoln’s newest premium mid-size sedan and the first Lincoln created by a dedicated team in its new Lincoln Design Studio – a studio that houses approximately 50 designers, craftspeople and engineers committed solely to Lincoln production and concept vehicles.
The MKZ represents the future of Lincoln in both style and substance: stunning design wrapped around intuitive, purposeful technology. With a sweeping profile, MKZ incorporates one of the world’s widest-opening retractable glass roofs.
The technologically advanced MKZ is equipped with Lincoln Drive Control, an intelligent system that delivers a refined ride and engaging driving dynamics. Standard Lincoln Drive Control intuitively integrates multiple systems (engine, transmission, body and chassis) to deliver totally new Lincoln driving quality.
MKZ innovations include a distinct Push Button Shift gear selector that enables flowing and architectural center console design. The new MKZ features a quiet, well-appointed interior, enhanced by standard Active Noise Control, genuine wood trim, full LCD instrumentation, heated front seats and SYNC with MyLincoln Touch.
The all-new Lincoln MKZ Hybrid will also be unveiled at the upcoming motor show, armed with unmatched fuel efficiency on top of the aforementioned premium features. The all-new Lincoln MKZ Hybrid delivers more miles per gallon – 45 MPG (city/highway/combined, EPA) – than any other competing hybrid model in the same class.
Fuel-Efficient Technologies Give Customers the ‘Power of Choice’
Ford is delivering on its promise to bring the “Power of Choice” to fuel-efficiency-minded customers in South Korea.
“With the new hybrid and diesel technologies, as well as an expanding array of vehicles that offer Ford’s award-winning EcoBoost engine technology, Ford will showcase the broadest selection of fuel-efficient engine options within the import industry at this year’s motor show,” said Jung.
EcoBoost engines, a new generation of downsized, high-efficiency engines that provide new levels of performance and fuel efficiency, will be offered in 80 percent of the vehicles sold in Korea in 2013, including the all-new Fusion on sale now in Korea, and the all-new Escape launched in 2012.
The all-new Ford Focus with a 2.0L Duratorq TDCi diesel engine offers the best-in-class fuel economy of 17.0 km/L, allowing consumers to enjoy new levels of performance, refinement and efficiency. Ford is at the forefront of diesel injection technology, offering highly flexible, extremely accurate, high-pressure fuel injection for outstanding refinement, fuel economy and emissions capability.
All-New Fusion Hybrid Demonstrates Ford’s Fuel-Efficiency Leadership
The Fusion Hybrid, the second all-new hybrid vehicle to be displayed at the show, delivers best-in-class fuel economy of 18.9 km/L. Launching in Korea later this year, the Fusion Hybrid is equipped with an all-new 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder gasoline engine, which retains performance with more efficiency than the previous 2.5-liter unit. New lithium-ion batteries save weight and generate more power, raising maximum speed under electric-only power from 47 mph to 62 mph. The new engine coupled with the new lithium-ion batteries are projected to offer class-leading fuel economy.
The all-new Fusion Hybrid also comes with Ford’s proprietary SmartGuage with EcoGuide, which illustrates to car owners the MPG status with a leaf graphic while driving, encouraging more fuel-efficient driving.
Mustang Shelby GT500 and New Focus Diesel are Among the 12 Products to be Showcased at the Seoul Motor Show
Along with the all-new Lincoln MKZ, MKZ Hybrid and all-new Fusion Hybrid, Ford Korea will also put its iconic muscle car, the Mustang Shelby GT 500, on display during the motor show. The Mustang Shelby GT500, renowned for its design and performance, will excite local sportscar fans who have long waited this best-in-class car.
Additional vehicles to be displayed include Ford’s new Focus TDCi Diesel, the diesel model designed for Europe that boasts the highest fuel efficiency (17 kp/L) and driving performance in its class.
The 2013 Explorer, Ford’s signature large SUV, all-new Fusion, Escape, Mustang and Taurus will also be on display. Complementing the all new Lincoln MKZ and MKZ Hybrid on the Lincoln display will be the Lincoln MKS full-size sedan and Lincoln MKX crossover utility vehicle.
To help visitors better understand the new fuel efficient Focus Diesel, the Ford stand will feature a Focus Star Search activation where participants take on the role of an on-camera presenter. They will stand on a turntable and read a 30-second script about the Focus Diesel from a teleprompter. Selected participants’ videos will play on close-by monitors during the show.
Show attendees will enjoy an interactive showcase of the all-new Fusion’s stunning exterior and interior attributes, styling, and class-leading technologies. Participants will take a photo with the Fusion and work with Ford Design Studio artists to personalize their picture using Photoshop techniques and filters.
Attendees who have longed to see themselves with the iconic and renowned Ford Mustang will finally have the opportunity to do so at the stand. Visitors at the Mustang activation will take a digital photo of their face, select one of many background options featuring the Mustang and then superimpose themselves in the photo.
Attendees who participate in the three Ford activations on the stand will receive a link to the YouTube video or image that they create to share with their social networks, or keep as a souvenir, after the show.
The stand will also feature Lincoln Loves, a thoughtful display of unique experiences that engages consumers seeking an alternative from the ordinary. By interweaving an exceptional array of artwork, design and technology, Lincoln Loves connects individuals to their shared passions. The ongoing and continually evolving journey of discovery and sharing speaks to the needs of the new luxury customer and assures cultural progressives “Lincoln is like me.”
“The Ford exhibit truly represents the best of Ford Motor Company, and we are excited to give Korean customers the opportunity to see and experience our new Ford and Lincoln vehicles in a new way,” said Jung. “This year's show will raise Ford's appeal to a whole new generation of customers.”
