NEW YORK - The Steve Harvey Foundation presented Ford Motor Company's President and CEO Alan Mulally the "Helping Hand Award" at the 2011 Steve Harvey Foundation Gala.
The "Helping Hand Award" is given to those who extend their hands on a continual basis to ensure that at the end of their time they have done their fair share to help their fellow man. Past award recipients include, Geoffrey Canada (President and CEO of the Harlem Children's Zone), Pamela El (Vice President of Marketing at State Farm), and actor/director Denzel Washington. Proceeds from the event will specifically support the Steve Harvey Mentoring Weekend for Young Men which takes place in Dallas this Father's Day Weekend.
“It’s an honor to present Helping Hand Awards to Tyler Perry, Alan Mulally, and Chris and Malaak Rock this year,” said Steve Harvey. “It’s often hard to recognize an opportunity without knowing your dream first, and these four individuals have made a great impact on communities large and small, courageously and selflessly sharing their dreams and their achievements. Their leadership continues to empower and inspire us as well as future generations, on creating your own opportunities and blazing a trail for others."
