SHANGHAI, China – Demonstrating its commitment to Go Further for its customers in the world’s largest auto market, Ford made Auto Shanghai 2013 an occasion to display its new generation of global vehicles and smart technologies, as well as to communicate the power Ford brand and reiterate its growth plan in China.
2013 was a year for product for Ford in China. As one of the first exhibitors to hold the press conference, Ford excited the attending journalists with a series of important announcements that clearly demonstrate that Ford is on track with its plan to introduce 15 new vehicles to China by 2015.
The first product introduced was the Fiesta ST, making its Asia debut - a vehicle that flatters the car novice and rewards true car enthusiasts. Providing best-in-class ride & handling with impressively low CO2 emissions, Fiesta ST follows Focus ST as the second performance car Ford has brought to China—providing a great “halo effect” to our highly successfully Focus and Fiesta nameplates.
Having made its media debut 3 weeks ago in Beijing, the new Mondeo then made its Asia Auto Show debut. With its high standards of craftsmanship, brilliant technologies and ruthless efficiency, the vehicle was designed to stir the senses and transform expectations with an unprecedented fusion of quality and excitement.
Last but not the least, the highly anticipated Escort Concept made its global debut. Designed on Ford’s global platform and with Chinese consumers in mind, the concept car is a perfect blend of form and function to suit the needs of the largest and fastest growing segment -- China’s compact car segment.
Our 2013 Auto Show products came equipped with the best of Ford’s global automobile technologies.
As an essential part of Ford’s powertrain technology, the EcoBoost delivers the power and performance customers expect of Ford cars, while providing class-leading fuel efficiency. Joining the EcoBoost family this year was the 1.5L EcoBoost engine, the driving force behind the new Mondeo.
Enabling smooth communication between the car and driver, the intelligent SYNC technology has gone local! The magical SYNC technology improves on the driving experience and gives customers yet another reason to buy Ford.
As always, the media continued to track and report on Ford’s incredible progress in China. This year’s stand was over capacity with 350 media at our show and 54 interviews. Ford’s enterprise story was widely told from beginning to end!
Also, out of the tight schedule, some key life-style media were invited to an off-site lunch with the designer group, to discuss the inspirational design of Ford vehicles with exquisite cuisine.
The Ford stand itself was highly interactive and engaging, delivering 4 brand pillars – Quality, Green, Safe and Smart. Though with a compact schedule, quite some guests managed to squeeze some time out to have some fun.
