 A Hot New Logo and Theme for EcoSport

CHENNAI, India — Ford India has announced the winners of its EcoSport logo and theme contests held among its employees. The all-new EcoSport, already generating much interest from the public and the employees alike, will have a piping red hot logo and theme “Game Changer” ‘Chilli na hottu—Style na EcoSport,’ (EcoSport is stylish and hot like chilli) that will be used in Ford India’s internal employee events.

The logo contest, announced in December was a huge hit right from the start. “We had conducted such a logo contest prior to the launch of the Figo, and it had proved to be very popular. This helps in building interest and hype around our future launches,” said Dominic Saavio, general manager, of Employee Relations, the department that organised the contest. “It was indeed hard to choose the winning entries from so many wonderful and creative artworks,” he added.

The theme “You are a game changer” message will be used to motivate employees about the latest product from Ford’s stable EcoSport. The message will be a motivating statement that will be used to encourage employees across various group activities and acknowledge their hard work. For example, in sports, a team of employees can have a ‘game changer’ to win in that game (something like ‘man of the match’).
The contest saw as many as 905 entries, with employees from all departments participating. The organizing committee had placed boxes at several locations around the plant where entries could be dropped. The employees could also submit their entries by email.
Finally, after the deadline of January 4 passed, the entries were evaluated by a jury comprising senior plant leadership. The jury looked at various aspects such as creativity—font, colour and readability, originality—no imitation, no copyright violation, reachability to audience and attention to corporate brand identity.
Based on the jury’s decision, V. Lingeswaran, a launch engineer at Chennai Engine Plant and M.Jayamoorthy, an apprentice at Body Shop emerged the first prize winners of the logo and theme contests respectively. Lingeswaran’s winning entry depicts a Mars Red EcoSport with the logo “Game-Changer” and Jayamoorthy’s entry is the theme ‘Chilli na Hottu—Style na EcoSport’ in stylized fonts to conveyed the desired message.     
“It is a great feeling to know that my logo was liked and adjudged first by the jury. The EcoSport is already generating a lot of heat and I’m sure this red-hot product will be a game-changer when it is launched,” said, Lingeswaran (28). “I liked ‘the hot and spicy design’ and came up with my theme”, quipped Jayamoorthy.
The runners-up of the logo contest were R Arulkumar of Trim, Chassis and Final and K Sarvanan, from Machine Shop at Chennai Engine Plant. The theme contest runners-up were Nidhi Rasikbhai Makwana, a Ford College Graduate trainee of 2012 batch and R Mahesh from Body Shop.
“This was the first competition I participated in after joining Ford, and to be picked from thousands of participants was a moment of immense pride and something I will always cherish,” said Makwana, who has just completed six months of joining Ford.
The winners will be rewarded with attractive prizes and certificates at a date to be notified later on.
