NEW DELHI, India — Ford India has started 2012 in spectacular fashion. After capturing the world's attention with the global preview of the all-new EcoSport urban SUV, the All-New Ford Fiesta has already scooped its first award for the year.
The zippy Fiesta, which has been a stunning success since its launch in India in July last year, has been crowned the Best Driver's Car in the Bloomberg-UTV Autocar India 2012 Awards. Nigel Wark, executive director, Marketing, Sales and Service at Ford India, received the award on behalf of the Ford India team during a ceremony in Mumbai.
"The Bloomberg-UTV Autocar India Awards are widely regarded within the automobile industry and honour best-in-class vehicles launched by the industry in the past year," Wark said, adding that it "sees fierce competition amongst the most reputed names in the auto sector."
"This is great news and we would like to congratulate each and every one of you for this achievement. Keep up your hard work and here’s to more milestones in the coming months."
The All-New Fiesta has won 72 awards internationally and this latest award demonstrates its unbeatable appeal to the Indian driver as well.
“With the All-New Fiesta, Ford has once again given us a car that is a delight to drive. The Fiesta’s chassis is simply brilliant. It offers incredibly balanced and entertaining handling that rewards the driver immensely,” said Hormazd Sorabjee, one of the jury members and Editor, Autocar India.
While the All-New Ford Fiesta has already garnered widespread attention from customers across India, there is still more excitement to come this year.
The four-door sedan, Ford India's premium offering in the B-car segment with its eye-catching kinetic design and first-in-class features, will soon introduce the new best-in-class PowerShift automatic transmission, which delivers top fuel efficiency and a powerful performance.
The segment-first PowerShift dry clutch facings save weight, improve efficiency, increase smoothness and add durability, while eliminating the need for any maintenance.
