FLAT ROCK, United States - Last month, AutoAlliance International (AAI) in Flat Rock, Mich., welcomed Ford Racing and 17 Cobra Jet owners to celebrate the new 2012 Cobra Jet Mustang that is produced at the site. The goal was for the 2012 Cobra Jet to improve on the power and performance of the 2010 version that broke class records and captured wins on drag strips across the country.
Enthusiasts traveled from all over the country to take home their new Cobra Jets and they plan to show that enthusiasm in more ways than one. Some hoped to place their Cobra Jet at car shows, others just wanted a new toy and others planned on taking the Cobra Jet where it belongs... on the race track.
The Cobra Jet has a 5.4L supercharged engine, Manley H-beam connecting rods, low-drag racing brakes, and black anodized Cobra Jet wheels from Weld Racing. It is clear that this turn-key racer was built to go fast and has the strength to do so on the race track.
Everyone was most interested in what lay under the hood. On-lookers surrounded as one owner’s 18-year-old son got to start a Cobra Jet with the hood open. He revved the engine a few times and smiled nervously as the engine rumbled. After getting out of the car he was asked if he will get to drive his dad’s new Jet and he replied, “I really hope so.”
Thanks to AAI, this young man got to experience the power of the Cobra Jet’s engine for the first time, along with the other owners. The men and women of AAI are proud to produce a vehicle that racers and collectors alike will be talking about for a long time to come.
