United Way “Stuff the Truck” Event Prompts IT Employees to Help Make a Difference

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

DEARBORN  - For the 2013 United Way campaign, IT was invited to participate in a “Stuff the Truck” event featuring Joe Hinrichs, executive vice president and president of The Americas. The event was held at iTek Center, and many generous employees showed up to help this extremely worthy cause.

“IT collected school supplies and non-perishable items for children in need,” said Brandy Merritt, manager, Global IT Communications. “There are many children who go without school supplies and are hungry every weekend. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and giving spirit of IT team members as they came out to bring their donations and meet with Joe.”

The “Stuff the Truck” campaign for United Way was a great success. Over the three days, Product Development Center, iTek Center and Word Headquarters together collected more than $3,700 dollars and 6,903 items of non-perishable food and school supplies weighing more than 1,500 lbs.!

The United Way organizers would like to thank everyone in IT who participated, and the team looks forward to planning next year’s event.
