PHOENIX - Ford Motor Company in the Phoenix Region teamed up with Big Surf Waterpark and the Salvation Army to launch the Escape the Heat Water Drive, which took place from June 1 - June 16 at all 11 Metro Phoenix Ford dealerships.
Metro Phoenix-area Ford dealerships collected cases of water to support the Salvation Army’s Extreme Heat Emergency Plan, which was launched in 2006 to distribute water and provide respite and safety information to those in need at mobile hydration stations in Metro Phoenix on days with excessive heat warnings. Big Surf Waterpark assisted our efforts by offering one half-off voucher to the park for each case of water donated.
Using the 2013 Ford Escape as the sponsored vehicle for the Water Drive, each dealership set up an “Escape the Heat” donation drop-off area on their showroom floor to display the cases of water collected. Furthermore, we leveraged our local media outlets and utilized social media to promote the cause.
We would like to give a big Thank You to our Phoenix Metro dealerships for participating in the water drive. Our efforts resulted in the collection of more than 1,300 cases of water….that’s 31,500 bottles of water!!
A special shout-out to AutoNation Ford Scottsdale who led the efforts, collecting 300 cases of water alone. San Tan Ford and Sanderson Ford were close behind with approx. 225 cases collected.
Abby Rolfs, who organizes the Salvation Army’s water drive each year, noted, “I feel this was an incredible effort and I am personally thrilled with the number. We can’t thank you enough for this! Your Ford dealerships have just saved 31,500 people’s lives!!!”
