Massachusetts Ford Dealer Gives Back to Community in Big Way

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

MENDON, Mass. - Kevin Meehan, owner of Imperial Ford in Mendon, Massachusetts, recently donated $5 million to the Milford Regional Medical Center in his community to help fund the expansion of its emergency room and intensive care unit.

The donation is the latest in a lengthy string of generous contributions Meehan continues to make in his community.  Just before Christmas, for example, he gave $1 million to Riverside Community Care, a mental health charity that provides a wide range of social services across Massachusetts.

But his philanthropic efforts don’t end there. In years past, he helped raise $500,000 for the Breast Cancer Care Center at Milford Regional Medical Center, provided funding for the construction of a new police headquarters in Mendon, and donated $50,000 for families in need. And those are just a few of his contributions.

“Kevin is a very compassionate and hard-working person. He’s very successful and always looking for ways to give back,” said Mike Penner, general manager, Imperial Ford. “He’s a great businessman and a good friend to have.”

Meehan is well known for the elaborate 43-acre Christmas display he hosts on his property during the holidays. With a couple hundred thousand lights and 1,200 animated figures, he transforms his home into New England’s largest outdoor Christmas display. Not only does it enhance the community’s Christmas spirit, but it also serves as a fund-raising venue, raising thousands of dollars for the local Salvation Army.

“The traffic goes on for miles and miles, and he gets out there and shakes hands with people and rings the Salvation Army bell himself,” said Penner. “It’s just incredible.”

Last year, Ford honored Meehan as one of the six “Salute to Dealers” award winners worldwide. The award recognizes dealers who go above and beyond when it comes to giving back to their communities.

“I think that anyone who is successful within a community owes it to himself and to that community to give back,” said Meehan. “It’s doing the most and being the best that you can be and being an example for your children.”
