Every two years, a group of approximately 20 juniors and seniors enroll in the Science/Engineering Pathway at Newman Smith High School from Dallas, Texas, to spend their spring break touring different Ford facilities.
Their desired experiences are to participate in:
•Tours of Design Centers, Powertrain plants, Vehicle Operations plants and/or Manufacturing plants
•Presentations from engineers that include background on their job responsibility, required education, career path, etc.
•Presentations from HR about career opportunities for summer interns and college graduates
The students had approached each of the Big Three in the Michigan area and only Ford Motor Company went further by preparing three days of activities for the students to learn and enjoy. This year, the students have once again contacted us to host them for the 2013 spring break.
It has become a great tradition and honor for us to share what we do with the students and build a relationship with Dallas dealerships and community.
Employees go further and take time out of their own time to share daily activities with the students and pride in the company.
