GEELONG, Australia – Ford continued to demonstrate its leadership in supporting the local community when it joined the hugely popular Barwon Health’s GALA Day, which attracted an estimated 20,000 people.
The event, which started with a parade along the main streets of Geelong, is the year’s major fundraiser for the Geelong Hospital.
Supporting the event for the 22nd year, Ford entered a Falcon XR6, Focus Titanium, Ranger XLT and Territory Titanium in the parade.
Ford also provided two XR6 utes to Barwon Health – one to carry two Geelong Football Club Australian rules footballers, and one to carry Fireman Sam.
Out of a total 43 entrants, Ford won two awards – Best Entry and Best Depiction of the Theme.
The theme for the 2012 GALA Day was a choice of either Christmas, or Children’s Dreams, and Ford chose the latter with fairy tale/cartoon characters such as Snow White, Queen of Hearts and a Dragon, while other costumes included Cookie Monster, Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf, and Princess Leia and a Stormtrooper from Star Wars.
Ford also had several children wearing Ford t-shirts who handed out candy to the public along the parade route.
The company also donated to Barwon Health’s fundraising efforts, with this year’s funds helping to finish the Children’s Ward redevelopment at Geelong Hospital.
