SZENTENDRE, Hungary - More than 60 staff at Ford’s EDM and Hungarian regional headquarters in Szentendre, Hungary, have been working around the clock to tackle flood risks posed by a severely swollen River Danube.
With the water reaching record levels in recent days, the Ford volunteers have been helping to reinforce dams and boost flood protection defences in the region.
Viktor Molnár, regional director of Ford Central- and Eastern-European Sales LLC, said: "Social responsibility is a fundamental part of our corporate culture, we find it very important to contribute to the life of the community where are operating.
"Still, it was a very positive surprise, when more than 60 of our colleagues, that’s one-third of our office staff, volunteered to participate in the flood protection works."
Ford’s volunteers worked to reinforce dams at multiple locations simultaneously , including Leányfalu and Tahitótfalu.
"It was good to see the social cohesion on the dams, as well as the surprised, grateful glances of the locals when our enthusiastic volunteers arrived. I am proud to lead such a great team," added Molnár.
