DEARBORN - A truly cross-functional Ford team went further last week.
In Recruiting, we had a large Talent Management Conference (TMC) scheduled at the Conference and Events Center (CEC) in Dearborn for Friday, April 26, for 85 candidates and over 100 Ford managers.
During the day on Thursday, a water main broke and the CEC had to be evacuated. The TMC was in jeopardy!
Members of the Recruiting team, Johanna McGuire, Robin Johnson and Lynn Ledwidge began contingency planning mid-afternoon to move the TMC to either the Dearborn Inn or WHQ. They were supported by Janet O’Connell from Ford Land who was ready to line up trades people to set up WHQ.
Sharon Ciaramtaro-Artley and Walid Shohatee from Sodexo were making preparations for additional staff. Randy Mach from JPI was also working on our technology needs. Concurrently, McGuire, Johnson and Ledwidge were working with Dearborn Inn Managers Roberta Meloche, Dan Wilder and Bob Pierce to see if we could hold the event there. We were in constant contact with Deb Windey, director of Global Travel and Events.
At the same time, the Recruiting team was talking to Royal Moning, Operations and Utilities supervisor, about the water main repairs. Randy Walker, Jason Biddle, Terry Seifert, Dave Page, Bill Paynard and Vic Barra worked throughout the night to make repairs. Ford security also was there to provide the necessary confined entry permits. At 9:30 p.m., we hear great news – the water would be back on at 2 a.m.! Royal had already lined up key skill trades personnel, Pete Graham, Ron Akers, Dave Kuhn, Thomas O’Malley and Mark Ferrara to ensure the CEC was ready at 7 a.m. for our candidates.
On Friday, we held a successful TMC for our candidates and assessors. I want to extend my sincere appreciation to the entire team that made this possible.
