DEARBORN - Last week, the Commercial Board of Realtors (CBOR), a commercial real estate organization, awarded several recognitions, honoring real estate deals, dealmakers and projects.
Among the winners listed in Crain’s Detroit Business, a business news and information website, was Ford’s John Davis, earning CBOR’s Leader of the Pack award for the largest Retail Lease of the Year for his work on the TechShop deal. The award was presented recently at a Back-to-Business event with Governor Snyder.
“Making TechShop a reality was truly a team effort,” said John Davis, manager, Ford Land Sales and Leasing. “Bill Coughlin of Ford’s Intellectual Property group identified the opportunity and worked with Ford Land to make it a reality. This recognition from CBOR is an honor, and it’s great to be part of such a strong team.”
Davis was noted for his work on a 38,500-square-foot lease to TechShop Inc. in Allen Park, Mich. To draw TechShop to the space, a deal was set up to make memberships for the do-it-yourself space available to Ford employees and retirees. It also was combined with a creative lease allowing Ford to use parts of the building in common with TechShop.
