DEARBORN - The Global Product Development (PD) Finance Process group, recently honored with a Diversity and Inclusion Award, was created in 2012 to support strategic PD objectives and ongoing process improvements. The team is led by Ines Sabet and team members are located in both the U.S. and India. The U.S. PD Finance Process Teamoverall team objective is to ensure consistent financial reporting to drive financial health for all vehicle and powertrain programs globally though effective process and system deployment.

Travel is often required to support process launches and training or remote meetings are scheduled supporting local times to ensure all participants from other departments can participate without neglecting TWA or personal commitments. They provide support patiently when advice or brainstorming is needed. The team ensures Purchasing, PD, Engineering and Cost Estimating are working together effectively through development of service level agreements ensuring all stakeholders are heard.

“In the name of my team, I would like to thank the Diversity and Inclusion Committee for the recognition of our efforts. In this global environment being able to navigate different cultures, skill sets and thinking styles has become increasingly important,” said Sabet.

Thanks to the efforts of all individual team members, Finance has become a true business partner in PD globally. They have changed the way Finance interfaces with other departments in PD always having a strategic vision in mind on how PD should go further in a global environment.  The group has been able to provide significant improvements on how AVBOM operates and has set the stage for automated average vehicle assessments. This team is actively supporting critical QPM, GPDS and Big 6 efforts like robust target setting, efficient cost delivery as well as global change control, including global roll out.

“Effective process development means to actively seek out these differences and learn from them to ensure we can define as a global team how we would like to work together to create the best and most desired products for our customers. We can no longer afford to think in departmental chimneys and need to seek out an environment where we learn to work together across skill teams and regions,” said Sabet.
