DEARBORN - We all have them, but few are able to bring them to life in a very big way. But for a group of talented researchers and innovators, turning their ideas into reality is just the start of more exciting things to come.
Over 200 Research and Advanced Engineering (R&A) employees filled the Lovett Hall at the Henry Ford on June 18, as part of the 22nd annual Research and Advanced Engineering Recognition ceremony. Despite the size of the venue, there still wasn't enough space to house all of the creative ideas in the room.
"If at first you don’t succeed try and try again," said Paul Mascarenas, chief technical officer and vice president, Research and Advanced Engineering. "It’s a process of discovery of research and advanced engineering that presents our customers with unique experiences that’s done in an affordable and marketable way for the company."
Many of the foundational technologies that we have become so accustomed to today originated from a simple idea. Those honored not only spent countless days, weeks and months fostering ingenious solutions, but were also thanked for being direct contributors to the company’s overall success.
"Simply put, it’s about us continuing to make our contribution to the highest level possible to create great products. Ones that our customers want, value, and will pay their hard earned money for," said Mascarenas.
As they made their way across the stage, honorees proudly accepted their awards and posed for photos. But when it came time to give accolades to Research Specialist, Ross Pursifull, it was anything but your typical golf clap. Pursifull drew a huge round of applause for his 54 patents.
This ceremony certainly was not just a numbers game; it was a moment to reflect on the many accomplishments of those who have displayed excellence in their ability to think outside of the box.
