ATHENS, Ohio - Larry Porter, Service director, and his Service team at Don Wood Ford in Athens, Ohio, definitely show the Go further attitude for their customers.
My wife, Holly, and I were on our way home from visiting family in North Carolina when my wheelchair-lift equipped E350 began making disturbing noises.
By the time we got to Athens, Ohio, there was something seriously wrong with the driveline (an aftermarket system because of the under-the-vehicle wheelchair lift).
I stopped at Don Wood Ford and was initially told they could service the van in the next two or three days.
After seeing the predicament we were in (the wheelchair van is the only vehicle I can drive), Larry adjusted the service schedule and began working on the van right away.
This fix required the wheelchair lift to be removed from the vehicle, something they had never done before.
Further, the van needed an aftermarket carrier bearing, which we finally found in Marietta, Ohio, about an hour away.
Larry sent one of his people there to get the part and once it arrived, sent the mechanic and the drive shaft to a local shop to get the new bearing pressed onto the shaft.
The team installed the driveshaft with the new bearing, reattached the lift perfectly and had us on our way home by 4 p.m. that day!
Great service and great team work!
The service team at Don Wood Ford Goes Further for its customers!
