DEARBORN - The results are in for the Ford Global Diversity and Inclusion Awards. The awards recognize teams in the global Ford community who support the ONE Ford plan through their outstanding ‘Go Further’ contributions in the area of diversity and inclusion. Ford Windsor Operations is honoured to accept an award under the Leveraging a Diverse Workforce category. This award recognizes teams that exhibit an understanding of the value of diverse teams and partnerships to capitalize on business and market opportunities, while actively participating in attracting and developing a diverse workforce.
In 2012, a Windsor team of joint Ford and Unifor leadership established the framework for a Skilled Trades Workforce Action Team (SWAT). The agreement encourages skilled trades employees from across all departments to work together on production constraint issues. The Ford Global Diversity and Inclusion Award was presented to one of the Windsor SWATs for its efforts to address throughput issues in engine assembly. The collaborative effort and partnership at the Ford Windsor site embodies the ONE Ford behaviours and demonstrates the critical thinking, innovation, and technical excellence that Ford encourages.
“This award acknowledges the passion and commitment of those involved,” said Shaun Whitehead, Ford Windsor Operations site manager. “The site-wide team positively impacted productivity as an integrated team of diverse professionals.”
Dianne Craig, president and CEO, Ford Motor Company of Canada Ltd., joined in the Ford Windsor celebrations in February to thank the team for its outstanding contributions to the company. Craig congratulated the team for their partnership and collaboration as they work to continuously improve quality.
“Ultimately, our goal is to satisfy our loyal customers and this award signifies the steps we are taking in the right direction,” said Craig. “The dedication the Windsor team has to Ford and our customers is greatly appreciated and inspiring.”
The Ford Windsor site continues to look for ways to leverage the skills and expertise of the workforce across the site and is excited to continue such positive momentum in 2014.
