Carver Dumke Receives Award for Successful Launch of Extended Warranty Program Abroad
DEARBORN - Carver Dumke, manager, U.S. Extended Service Plan (ESP), GAP and WearCare, is being recognized with a 2013 Diversity & Inclusion Award for Leading the Way: Ford Credit China turned to the U.S. Finance & Insurance Product Marketing department for assistance with the launch of the Chang’An Ford Extended Warranty Program.
Dumke, an expert in warranty products, volunteered to develop the training materials and spend three weeks in China to personally train Regional Managers (RMs), Dealer Account Managers (DAMs) and all Sales Assistants on the Extended Warranty products in preparation for launch. Each region had a full day of comprehensive CAF Extended Warranty product training followed by comprehensive exams. All presentations, hand-outs, tests and other supporting materials were provided to the Sales and Marketing teams for continued training and future use.
According to his nomination, “The experience and expertise Carver brought to support the launch was something Ford Credit China couldn’t have replicated.” He was commended by all levels of management for his dedication and direction.
“I never expected to win such an award, yet I am truly honored by it, said Dumke. “Helping another country launch a new product was challenging and rewarding all at the same time. I’d do it all over again without giving it a second thought. It’s just the right thing to do,” Dumke said.
Dante Burchi Takes Advantage of Technology to Ensure Worklife Flexibility for His Team
DEARBORN - Dante Burchi is being recognized with a Diversity and Inclusion Award for his commitment to worklife flexibility. In his former position as manager, Central Information Group, Risk Management, he supported diversity through ensuring his team had a flexible work environment without sacrificing the quality or timeliness of deliverables.
Burchi leads by example and made the team feel like family rather than just co-workers. He has cultivated an environment of mutual respect, fun, and openness which enabled all employees to support each other no matter where they were located. This is an amazing accomplishment considering he managed a team of people spread across the globe from Chennai to the U.K. to Dearborn to Tampa.
The team met via video conference so they could 'see' each other to build and maintain camaraderie. He leveraged various technologies such as WebEx, SharePoint and IM to stay connected to people where ever they were located. He enabled employees to flex their schedule around family commitments while ensuring the department objectives were met. He supported employees on TWA and worked to make sure their workload was balanced accordingly. At the end of the day his concern is that the team does a quality job no matter where they work from or what time of day it is.
His approach to management and worklife flexibility yielded measurable results. The department exceeded their intercompany CSI score objective for the past four years and the department's PULSE scores have consistently increased under his management.
