Alan Mulally Announces Ford Accelerates European Transformation
This week we announced important news to accelerate our European transformation to deliver profitable growth. Using the same One Ford plan that led to strong profitability in North America, we will address the crisis in Europe with a laser focus on new products, a stronger brand and increased cost efficiency.
Europe is the second-largest automotive region in the world, behind Asia Pacific. It is also home to such growing markets as Russia, Turkey and eastern Europe.
For Ford, Europe is critically important to our One Ford plan, representing slightly more than a quarter of our Automotive revenue and vehicle volume. Europe also is an important center of engineering, research and development, supporting all regions of the company.
We will deal with the current European crisis by continuing to work together and focus on our One Ford plan, which is unchanged:
- Aggressively restructure to operate profitably at the current demand and changing model mix
- Accelerate the development of new products that customers want and value
- Finance the plan and improve the balance sheet
- Work together effectively as one team, leveraging Ford's global assets
We will meet with stakeholders and representatives of the news media to discuss our plan and answer questions. It is important for all of us to read the news release and understand our transformation plan for Europe.
One Team. One Plan. One Goal. One Ford.
