Ford employees and Ford Motor Company Fund are donating $50,000 to the American Red Cross and its chapters to assist with disaster relief in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

"Hurricane Sandy has had a devastating impact on many states," said Jim Vella, president, Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services. "We know that the need for assistance is great and we are pleased to partner with American Red Cross to help provide relief."

This donation is part of Ford's involvement in the 2012 Red Cross Disaster Responder Program. Under this program, a select group of companies pledge donations on an ongoing basis in advance of major disasters, which helps the Red Cross ensure an immediate response to meet the needs of those affected by disasters.

As the deadline of the second election period approaches for the voluntary General Retirement Plan (GRP) lump-sum payment opportunity (Nov. 12, 2012), Ford continues to receive questions from retirees regarding the completion of their election forms. For retirees who have not yet mailed their kits to the Pension Lump-Sum Information Center, here are some important tips:

• Be sure to complete the section that indicates your payment election – lump-sum payment or monthly benefit option (Form 1, Section 2). Simply check the box.
• Verify your date of birth by checking the box beside your birth date on Form 1, Section 3. Importantly, if your birth date is not correct, please contact the Pension Lump-Sum Information Center.
• When completing Form 1, Section 6, please sign and date the document. Please write the date of the signature – not your date of birth.
• Review the checklist on pages 4 and 5 to confirm all the required sections for your election are complete.

If you are a participant in a current election period and have any questions, contact the Pension Lump-Sum Information Center at 1-888-382-9642 (1-858-703-2176) if calling from outside the United States and Canada) between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. Please call the Pension Lump-Sum Information Center immediately for any correction to your personal information. If a correction is made that affects your lump-sum calculation, a new Election Kit may be required, and if so, you may be moved to a later election period.

Ford and Automotive Components Holdings (ACH) announced the sale of the last remaining ACH automotive components operation – a climate control business – to Detroit Thermal Systems, LLC, a joint venture between Valeo and V. Johnson Enterprises, LLC.

Ford opened a major solar panel installation in Merkenich-Cologne, Germany.
